Goodfellow's dream start earns June Toptipsters' crown

Five winning naps out of nine at the start of June gave Robin Goodellow a dream start to the month, and with a further five successes, The Daily Mail’s napster claimed monthly honours with a 21.9-point yield. The Scotsman’s Glendale was second thanks to a 16.5-point posting. The Sheffield Star’s Fortunatus finished third with an 11.2-point haul with The Guardian fourth on 8.0-points. In all, an impressive tally of eight tipsters posted June profits.

Having enjoyed a lucrative May with eight winning naps, Goodfellow came into the new month in fine fettle. He got away to a great start with 12/1 Beeves (Perth, 4 June) and Pipers Note (Ripon, 7 June) piling up the profits and the winners continued to flow throughout the month. Since the start of May, Goodfellow boasts a strike-rate of 33%.

Like Goodfellow, Glendale advised 12/1 Beeves, one of nine winning June naps. This haul included a sequence of four consecutive winning naps between 20 and 23 June, culminating in the Ayr success of 5/1 Gworn.

Ten winning naps earned Fortunatus third position in the June lists. The month opened and closed in great style with the first four days yielding three winning naps and the last eight producing five, including Permain (6/1, Royal Ascot, 23 June) and Constantino (10/1, Newcastle, 29 June).

Pipers Note proved to be a good friend to the newspaper tipping industry last month; eleven days after winning for Goodfellow, he delivered at Doncaster for The Guardian, being returned at 6/1. Stradivarius (11/2 Royal Ascot, 23 June) was another nice winner for The Guardian, who are now second in the overall 2017 table.

The Duke (Yorkshire Post) finished June with a 43% strike-rate, with 12 winning naps out of 28. This included a regal display at Royal Ascot with four of The Duke’s five naps prevailing.

The Racing Post’s Spotlight and Ratings services both posted June profits. Benbatl (9/2, Royal Ascot, 22 June) was the pick of Spotlight’s nine June winners, while another Ascot winner, Thomas Hobson (4/1, 20 June), proved to be the highlight for Ratings.

Patrick Weaver invariably maintains a high win-ratio and June was no exception as the man from The Star posted a 44% strike-rate with 12 wins from 27 naps, including 7/2 Lady Aurelia (Royal Ascot, 20 June).

Richard Forristal of The Irish Independent headed the all-tips list for June with a 9.8-point yield. Newsboy of The Daily Mirror enjoyed a good month. His overall loss was 39.7 points, but within this there were several outstanding performances. Twice, at Beverley (20 June) and Lingfield (22 June), he gave five winning selections out of seven and at Haydock on 14 June he went one better tipping the first six winners on a seven-race card. As this included two 4/1 winners as well as 16/1 Marmaduke Bay, this converts to a monster 13,293/1 acca. Sadly, his last race selection, Joshua Reynolds, could only manage third.
