Nutting Over the Moon Following 14/1 Epsom glory

2016 is fast becoming the year of major pay-outs for Gary Nutting. The 14/1 success of Smugglers’ Moon at Epsom on Oaks Day was the latest big-priced winning nap curtesy of the Sunday Mirror’s tipster. Brian Meehan’s charge followed 16/1 Bahama Moon (Redcar, 28 March), 14/1 Barney Dwan (Sandown, 12 March), 16/1 Pilgrims Bay (Wincanton, 21 January) and 14/1 Kings Bayonet (Huntingdon, 6 January).

As well as these double-figure priced victors, Nutting has found plenty of less flashy winners along the way. Reviewing the last 30 days, Nutting has posted 9 winners from 27 naps with the other eight successes posting SPs ranging from 15/8 to 4/1. It all adds up to a table-topping 22.2 point profit during this period. The Racing Post’s Postadata (11.9 points) is second with Fortunatus of the Sheffield Star third with 11.2 points.

Chevallier (12/1, Sandown, 26 May), 9/1 See The Sun (York, 11 May) and 17/2 Bathos (Goodwood, 19 May) secured Postdata’s impressive return, while R Bar Open was a winning 16/1 nap at Salisbury on 7 May for Fortunatus.

The Duke of the Yorkshire Post and the Daily Star’s Patrick Weaver both posted profits during this 30- day period, each registering 12 winning naps out of 27 (44% strike-rate). Also currently boasting 30-day profits are Glendale of The Scotsman, Farringdon of the Morning Star and the Daily Mail’s Robin Goodfellow.

Finally, for now, well done to The Guardian and the Racing Post’s Spotlight who both confidently napped 11/2 Harzand prior to the colt’s impressive win in the Derby.

Next week sees what, for many is the best five day’s racing of the whole Flat season. You can keep abreast of the winners and losers at Royal Ascot (and elsewhere) via twitter and the Napchecker site.
